How convenient the Japanese Convenience Stores are.....

More than 50,000 convenience stores can be found across Japan. Circle K, Suns R Us, LAWSON, and 7-Eleven are some of the biggest convenience stores. In that 7-Eleven is one of the biggest of all the convenience store chains in Japan. 7-Eleven has over 20,000 locations throughout the country. Totally there are 50,000 different stores available through out Japan.

Convenience stores primarily sell food, including a large range of meals, snacks, sweets, sandwiches, bread, chips, candy, obento (lunch boxes), instant Ramen, microwave meals and hot foods like fried chicken, nikuman and oden. Some cold foods, such as onigiri, can be heated in the store.

The stores also sell all kinds of hot and cold beverages including soda, coffee, tea, water, sport drinks, juice, milk and vitamin drinks. Other goods available include body care products, cosmetics, batteries, umbrellas, magazines. Some stores, particularly outside of the city centers, have a toilet.

It also offer a wide range of services like ATM, Wi-Fi, Bill payments including utility, cell phone and insurance bills, can be paid at convenience stores. Also, the drop off or pick up deliveries services called TAKUHAIBIN or takkyubin is available in most of the convenience stores. A limited range of postal services such as the sale of post cards and stamps, is also available.


As a whole it is really a convenience store where you can buy all the day to day needs under one roof.
